As Worth emergency response units arrived on scene flames were fully involved and consuming the home of Troy and Christie Walker.

Troy Walker snapped a photo (right) at 1:29 A.M. stating it was approximately two minutes after he and his family got out of the home. Walker said the left side of the doublewide home is where all of his children were sleeping.

?God is good,? Walker expressed to friends in a social media network. ?The most important things in our life ?are ok. God was most certainly with us this morning, no exaggeration when I say we barely made it out.?

Troy said this evening that it was Christie who happened to wake up around 1:20 A.M. ?She woke me up from a dead sleep and said ?I smell something?. As soon as I sat up I knew the air was thick and my eyes were stinging. We opened our bedroom door and our house was completely?engulfed?in smoke to the point we couldn?t breathe.? He said he and his wife started running to the opposite end of the house where their children were located in three?separate?bedrooms. They began calling out for their kids which?awoke?their?son who came out of his room coughing and, as Troy?described,?visible only as a?silhouette.

Christie grabbed their youngest daughter who had awoken as Troy bursts through the door of his 16-year old daughter?s room. He teared up as he explains how his family made it down the hallway and outside of the home before flames erupted.

As they were exiting the home Troy said he saw flames in the laundry room area located between his?children?s?bedrooms.???That?s where we believe the fire started. It?s where the electrical panel is.?

The family left the home in the clothes they went to bed in. Their home and belongings were a complete loss. ?I know for a fact if we had been a minute later, it would be a whole different story? We lost everything but we have everything.?

?We have been completely humbled by the overwhelming support from?friends, family and complete and total strangers that have showed up just to comfort us and to give us things that we need. It has been really amazing to experience that.?

The Walker?s are staying with family until they can make plans for their future. ?We?re still kind of dazed from it all and trying to figure stuff out,? Troy said quickly expressing optimism for the days to come. ?I know we?ll be okay because we all made it.?

If you are able to donate clothing items, sizes are available below. Clothing and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Worth County Fire Department located beside Jefford?s Park in Sylvester (776-8223) or downtown Albany to James Glass at Consolidated Loan Co. located at 425 Pine Avenue (435-4541).

An account has been set up for the Walkers at?Members?United Credit Union in Albany under account # 602725.

Newbie- How to install DOS 2.1 / 3.1 on pentium133 / 4.3gb IDE drive

Many late Pentium era BIOSes let the bootup drive be switched. This means that you can install an OS on each hard disk and whenever you want to change OS simply enter the BIOS and change the boot order. Restart the system and you should be in the OS you chose. With DOS's need to have the boot partition be at the front of the disk, separate drives are much easier than relying on boot managers and multiple tiny partitions that get hidden.

For DOS 6.22, setup is easy. With FDISK, create a primary partition of less than 2 GB. Then create an extended partition containing the rest of the disk. Inside the extended partition, create logical drives (each less than 2 GB) until you run out of disk space or get tired of creating logical drives. Then install DOS and format the drives as needed.

DOS 5 uses a similar procedure except that according to some of my sources, the primary partition and each logical drive has to be smaller than 512MB so you might have 8 logical drives.

With 2 disks after fully partitioning and formatting both, you might see something similar to the following:
DOS 6.22: Drive C (2 GB primary partition DOS 6 is installed on); Drive D (512 MB primary partition with DOS 5); DRIVE E (2 GB logical drive on the disk DOS 6 is installed on); DRIVE F (the rest of the disk DOS 6 is installed on, about 200 MB); Drives G through M would all be 512 MB logical drives on the disk with DOS 5; and Drive N with the remainder of the space of the disk DOS 5 is installed on.
DOS 5 won't be able to read the DOS 6 drives except for the small logical drive at the end. The highest drive letter would be L.

I would have to do some testing. I am not sure if DOS 2 or DOS 3 will be able to work with such a large disk. If you create a primary DOS partition of less than 16MB with DOS 5 or 6, DOS 2 or 3 should be able to format the partition if the drive can be worked with.

Charlotte NC Real Estate Conditions

To everything there is a season. Here in North Carolina, it appears that the season for buying a new home has at last returned after several long years of economic somnolence. There are several reasons why the time has once again arrived for investors to get back into the property markets. Here are a few of them to consider.

All things considered, it is high time to take a look at real estate. The bargains remain, the loan deals remain, and the annual return on investment that is the hallmark of owning property has finally gotten back into the game.

Iran: Uranium enrichment to be speeded up

(AP) ? Iran will step up its uranium enrichment program by sharply increasing the number of centrifuges used to make nuclear fuel, a senior official said Wednesday, in direct defiance of Western demands.

The statement by Iran's nuclear chief, Fereidoun Abbasi, is likely to escalate tensions. The West suspects Iran's nuclear program could be headed toward weapons production and has imposed punishing sanctions to try to persuade Tehran to stop enrichment.

Iran has denied the charges, saying its program is peaceful and geared toward generating electricity and producing radioisotopes to treat cancer patients.

Uranium enriched to a low level is used to produce nuclear fuel for reactors, but high level enrichment would make it suitable for use in atomic warheads.

Abbasi said Iran is making nuclear advances in the face of the severe economic measures imposed by the U.N. and the West.

"Despite sanctions, we will most likely see a substantial increase in the number of centrifuge machines this year. We will continue enrichment with intensity," Abbasi was quoted by state TV as saying Wednesday. The Iranian calendar year ends on March 20.

Abbasi did not say if Iran's stepped up work would be at the five percent fuel level or the higher 20 percent quality, which has worried the West because it can be purified to weapons grade more quickly. There have been indications that Iran may push its enrichment even higher than the 20 percent acknowledged to U.N. nuclear watchdogs.

His remarks came days after the U.N. agency said Iran is about to double its output of higher enriched uranium at its fortified Fordo underground facility. That could move Iran closer to weapons capability.

A Nov. 8 report by the International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran has installed about 2,800 centrifuges at Fordo and is poised to double the number of operating centrifuges, from the current 700 to nearly 1,400.

Iran says it needs 20 percent enriched uranium to make fuel for a medical research reactor in Tehran that produces isotopes for about 1 million patients annually.

Abbasi also said Iran will soon conduct a test run of its heavy water reactor in Arak in central Iran, despite demands from the U.N. to stop the work. The test will use virtual fuel, not actual radioactive material, he said.

He said construction of the 40-megawatt research reactor is progressing on schedule, but he noted that experts are handling the project with greater care in anticipation of possible sabotage attempts.

"The Arak reactor is progressing without any problem according to the schedule. Only because of security considerations, we are moving with caution, since enemy intends to harm this reactor," he was quoted by state TV as saying. "All the equipment needed to operate this reactor has been purchased."

The West is concerned that the heavy water reactor could produce enough plutonium for a nuclear weapon each year, if the spent fuel is reprocessed. That would be another pathway for bomb-grade material, but Iran is not known to possess a plutonium reprocessing facility

Iran has experienced explosions and malfunctions at its nuclear and industrial sites, partly due to faulty equipment secretly procured on the global market.

Also, Iran says it is the target of a campaign that has included the abduction and assassination of scientists, the sale of faulty equipment and the planting of a destructive computer worm known as Stuxnet, which briefly brought Iran's uranium enrichment activity to a halt in 2010.

The Big East moved quickly to replace Rutgers and braced for more possible departures, getting Tulane and East Carolina to agree to join the re-invented conference in 2014.

"I would go as far to say as this is a historic day for Tulane University ... the Big East is coming to the Big Easy," school President Scott Cowen said Tuesday.

Tulane, in New Orleans, and East Carolina, in Greenville, N.C., will make it six Conference USA schools to join the Big East in the last two years.

Rutgers announced a week ago that it would leave the Big East for the Big Ten. Cowen and athletic director Rick Dickson said serious talks with the Big East began about a week ago.

"This is an unprecedented opportunity to join a national conference," Dickson said.

ECU athletic director Terry Holland said an offer to join the Big East came Sunday.

"It was a quick turnaround," he said.

Rutgers would like to join the Big Ten by 2014, along with Maryland, but the Scarlet Knights have left their departure date from the Big East ambiguous. Conference bylaws require members to give the league notification of two years and three months before departing, but the Big East has negotiated early exits for Syracuse, Pittsburgh and West Virginia in the past year.

West Virginia joined the Big 12 this year. Syracuse and Pitt will begin play in the Atlantic Coast Conference in September.

With Maryland leaving the ACC, there has been strong speculation that Connecticut or Louisville will be the next to leave the Big East as the Terps' replacement.

If either does, the conference is still on target to have 12 football members in 2014, just not the same ones it will have in 2013 when the new Big East debuts.

"We're not finished," Big East Commissioner Mike Aresco said. "We obviously have some other plans for expansion."

The Big East is also on the open market, trying to negotiate a pivotal new television contract. Aresco said that had to be put on hold for a few days as the conference regrouped after the latest defection.

Boise State and San Diego State, currently in the Mountain West, are set to join for football only starting in 2013, anchoring the Big East's new West Division. Also on schedule to join next season are current C-USA members SMU, Houston, Memphis and Central Florida.

Navy has committed to join the Big East for football in 2015. The conference had planned to find a 14th member to balance out its divisions even before Rutgers left. BYU and Air Force were top targets for that spot.

Aresco said that the Big East could even expand to 16 members, depending on what schools are available.

"We have to let that play out," he said.

Officials from San Diego State and Boise State have said they are still committed to joining the Big East. Boise State President Robert Kustra reiterated that position in a statement Tuesday.

"The Big East is proactively responding to the national changes in conference affiliations, and Boise State remains committed to building and competing in a strong Big East future," he said.

Boise State and SDSU officials have expressed a desire for the conference to add more schools out West.

"We absolutely will be looking at some western schools," Aresco said.

The Big East's membership also includes seven schools, including Georgetown and St. John's, that either do not have football teams or don't compete at the FBS level, but have helped it become a premier basketball conference.

Tulane seems an odd choice based on the school's recent performance in football and men's basketball, the two most prominent sports.

The Green Wave haven't been to a bowl game since 2002 and last made the NCAA men's basketball tournament in 1995. Tulane just completed a 2-10 football season under first-year coach Curtis Johnson.

It hasn't always been this way for Tulane. Cowen said in the decade before Hurricane Katrina devastated the school in 2005, forcing it to shut down for a semester, Tulane won more sports championships than any program in C-USA.

Cowen said it took three years for the university to fully recover.

"Once we recovered financially and academically, we invested heavily in athletics," he said.

He said the school has sunk $125 million into the athletic department for facilities and coaches. Tulane will open a new on-campus football stadium in 2014, which the school hopes will rejuvenate interest in the team.

The Green Wave currently play their home football games in the Superdome but have struggled to draw fans. Tulane's average attendance for home games was 18,085 this season.

The Big East has been trying to gather as many major television markets as possible and New Orleans comes in at 53rd-largest in the country. Tulane also provides a regional rival for Memphis.

East Carolina has been a consistent winner in football and looked to get in the Big East for years. The Pirates have played in a bowl five out of the last six years and finished 8-4 this season, just missing out on a trip to the C-USA title game. The Pirates also have no problem drawing fans, with an average attendance of more than 47,000 per home game.

Holland said East Carolina's next step is to find an "equally exciting and competitive environment for the 18 sports other than football."

Conference USA had already replaced the previously announced departing members. Next season Louisiana Tech, Florida International, North Texas and Texas-San Antonio will join C-USA, giving it 16 football schools.

In 2014, Old Dominion will join C-USA, and Charlotte is scheduled to join with its fledgling football program in 2015.

"To be clear, we have several options but no new member agreements have been made at this time," C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky said. "We appreciate the support of our members and will immediately begin a presidentially led process to evaluate our future options."
